RPG Series - Ravenous Otyugh

Tis the season when the leaves signal the end of one cycle life and give rise the cold season of sleep. Parents, friends, little monsters will be aboud and afoot. So I leave this larger monster for you to ponder and place within the stone dungeon of you on-going campiagn.

COMBAT

All Around Vision (Ex): A Ravenous Otyugh cannot be flanked.

Constrict (Ex): An otyugh deals automatic grappling damage with a successful grapple check. Damage: 1d6 + smiting.

Damage Reduction (Su): 5/Magic

Disease (Ex): Filth Fever Parasites – Bite, Fortitude DC 22, Incubation 1d3 days; damage 1d4 Dex and 1d4 Con. The save DC is Constitution based.

Immunity (Ex): Poison

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, an otyugh must hit with a tentacle attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can constrict.

Redundant Anatomy (Ex): Having a decentralized anatomy makes the Ravenous Otyugh invulnerable to lethal attacks and mass damage. Savage Species; Special Qualities, Pg. 125.

Resistance (Su): Acid 10, Cold 10, Electricity 10, and Fire 10

Skills: *An otyugh has a +8 racial bonus on Hide checks when in its lair, due to natural coloration

Smite Good, Smite Law (Su): Three times per day, a ravenous otyugh can make a normal melee attack to deal damage equal to its HD total (+10) against a good or lawful foe. If this ability is used in conjunction with a successful grapple check (i.e. Improved Grab ability), its smiting damage stacks with a constriction damage.

Specialization Attack (Su): Natural Weapons are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction

Spell-Like Abilities (Su): 3/Day, Darkness, Desecrate, Unholy Blight, Poison, Contagion

Spell Resistance (Su): 20

Superior Multi-Attack (Ex): Because each head controls two tentacles, a multi-headed creature has no penalties on attack rolls for attacking with multiple tentacles, and the number of attacks and damage for each weapon are calculated as though the weapon were held in a primary hand. A Ravenous Otyugh can used its Improved Grab and Smite Good in conjunction with this attack.

Swallow Whole (Ex): As per Monster Manual, Pg. 315. They automatically bite on the first round, then on the second round they bite again with their triple jaws for double damage plus disease before spitting out their prey.

Description:
A girthful stalking tripod of three gapping maws, each housing sharp triple lined teeth, with six tentacles, and three eyestalks covered in layers of festering mucus, slime, and moist fecal matter. Consumption is what drives the ravenous Otyugh. A chaotic impulse to consume anything on the many battlefields of the Abyss and the higher planes. Be it Tanar’Ri, Baatzu, human, elven, dead or living, the ravenous Otyugh exists to fulfill, or fill the bottomless appetite of its triple maws. Originally bred to serve as shock troopers against the forces of law and order, the ravenous Otyugh were transported to the many worlds of the Prime Material Plane to serve as guardians of many hidden shrines and temples of certain Tanar’Ri lords of plague and infestation. They often proved to be too unrestrainable and a burden on the limited resources of many hidden cults, and thus were let loose in the infinite expanse of many Underdarks.
